As technology continues its unrelenting march — deluging us with data and choking us with choices — each and every night on the news, we are presented the constant message that the most important subject of our lives must be the economy and how our region is going compared to other countries in the world. We need to stop and consider from a different perspective what it really takes to live a life that is rich and fulfilling.
We need to recognize that our children, like us, are creatures of the Earth, made up from water, air, the soil, and the Sun’s energy. We depend upon these elements to sustain and develop us in the healthiest of ways. Children deserve to run free, feel the wind, catch insects, and connect to mother nature.
We must also recognize that our children, like us, are social animals, having an undeniable need for love without which they, and us, suffer both physically and mentally. At BKI, the strength of that love is reflected in the smiles of the children, the vibrant families, and our healthy school community.
Also, we have our spiritual needs which are rooted in nature and are reflected in both the Reggio Emilia Approach to teaching and our school environment. This is our ultimate source of inspiration, fulfilling our need to belong.
Lastly there is home. Our true home is in the here and now, the present moment. The past is gone, the future yet to arrive. Everything your child needs is here. Everything you need is here, as is also infinite creative potential. When we live in the present moment true happiness is possible.
These requirements are the real needs of human kind and should form the basis of all human development. At BKI Preschool, we can offer all of this, and more — a way of thinking which connects us all to Mother Earth and each other.
It’s a soulful kind of thing. Please join us!
